The Next Beginning Beekeeping Series will be in Autumn of 2022
Isabee's Beginning Beekeeping Class
for starting colonies Spring, 2022

Mondays - Feb. 21 and Feb. 28th
6:30 - 8:30 p.m. |
This Introduction to Beekeeping zoom class, over two evenings, will cover
• What's involved in getting set-up
• Site planning, necessary equipment & required management time
• Basic honeybee biology and behavior
• Equipment and starter colonies options
• What's the calendar guidelines for important management tasks in Zone 6 |
Beekeeping is local, with regional and local weather, forage and bloom time having an influence on your (and the bees) timing. We recommend beginning or enhancing your experience with instruction that focuses on equipment choices and management guidelines specific to your region.
Class will involve live PowerPoint instruction with links to tailored hand-outs.
A follow-up live, in-field hive inspection at Isabee's, to be scheduled for this coming Spring.

Parasites and pathogens - control including testing, identification, treatments and timing |

Overwintering - The most important colony trait and the most regionally specific management practice. How and when to prep your colonies, plus what does a "healthy colony" look like in our region. |
